Sally Hansen Salon Effect Nail Wraps

I recently picked up some of the Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Wraps in TK Maxx. They were only £3.99, so I thought I would give them a go. I’ve heard amazing things about all of these things I expected these to be amazing.

I did everything that I was told in the box, and they applied okay for a while but after about an hour they began to come off and I just got annoyed  with them. I’m not sure if it’s because I have shit nails, or because I did something wrong but they aren’t great. It was a lot of faffing about to apply them and some just were ruined before I got them on my nails. Luckily, there are more than 10 in the box, so I managed to get all 10 fingers done.

So, after securing them onto my nails, I took a quick pic which makes them look good but about 10 minutes after this they began to bubble up and then ends just peeled back a bit. I just pulled them off once they all started to do this, and threw them away. These weren’t worth the money for me and I wouldn’t get nail wraps again. while they seem convenient, I just think they are much to complicated for something that costs as much as they do.

Have you tried these? Is there a trick to getting them to stay put?

7 Things for 7 Days

I’m sure you’ve all seen posts like this around the blogosphere! Sprinkle of Glitter, or the gorgeous Louise, has this amazing interactive post and I’m joining in!

So essentially it’s a motivational post about things you need to better at! Here are my 7 things for 7 days

  • Read

I adore reading, but I’m letting myself down on that front at the moment. When I finished Uni for the summer, I decided to give reading a little break and told myself that I would get through all the books that I have piled up on my shelf. So far, that hasn’t happen and I have one month before I go back to Uni. I will read more! I will! I’m starting with Water For Elephants and then I move on the the

  • Relax/Unwind

I am the first to admit that I’m not the most busy person at the moment. I do have a job, but it’s only part time. I have tried and tried to find something full time for the summer but there is just nothing going. It’s given me a lot of time to blog and I love that and one might think that it would give me time to just relax and unwind but it really hasn’t. I haven’t really had just one moment where I’ve sat down, had a bath or something relaxing and just not worried about one thing or any another. So, I am determined to not worry for a little while this month (at some point in time)

  • Cook/Eat Well

I’m a but naughty when it comes to things like this. I’m an extremely fussy eater, and I tend to stick to the same few things that I like to eat. None of them are amazingly healthy and I know I need to change this. So, my mission is to cook more and ensure these things are good for me. I won’t call it a diet because I’m not going to be strict about it and I hate that word with a passion, but it’s an attempt to make myself healthier and maybe loose a little weight in the process.

  • Blog

I love blogging! I’ve only been doing this for a few months and have no plans to turn back. I have so many things planned for my blog, and I just need to put them into action. I was thinking something along the lines of a twitter hashtag chat for us all to communicate, interactive posts and a I have a long lists of posts planned. I plan my posts on paper, so it’s just a case of writing them up and putting them out there for you guys. I’m also working on a schedule so things are reliable and more organise!

  • Tidy/Organise

I’m a messy person. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a bit of a disaster when it comes to keep things tidy and organised. I’m defiantly more of a lover of chaos because I know where everything is, but I know I need to be more tidy and organised. I’m moving out in September to live in Uni halls, and I cannot be a mess there. I have made an attempt to start this at home, but I’m making more of an effort from now on! I’ve started with my makeup collection, and soon it will be my closet/wardrobe and the hopefully my life.

  • Learn

I miss learning. I’m one of those people that is a total geek, and I never would dream of denying it. I like being a geek. That’s kind of my place in my social group. I would be the geek or the sarcastic one that not many people really get. I have been of Uni since the beginning of May and I miss learning new things. So, I’ve decided to teach myself things. I’m going to try and learn some new things to improve my blog!

  • Film

I have just started a YouTube Channel if you didn’t know, and I’m raring to go! I’m a little nervous every time I put up a video but I love it so far! I have so many ideas for the channel, and I have filmed some bits already but my mission to get them all edited, and ready to go up for you all.

Review | Montagne Jeunesse Orange Oil Hair Mask*

I was recently lucky enough to get the opportunity to try an Orange Oil Hair Mask, courtesy of BBloggerUnite. I saved it for a night where I could really pamper myself and had time to let it do its job. I used it the other night and I have to say really like it. Here’s why:

The Scent

I absolutely adore the scent of this product. If you are a fan of the Satsuma scent from The Body Shop then you will like this. It’s almost identical! Whilst it didn’t last two long in my hair after I’d washed it out, it was lovely whilst you were using it and for the little while that it did linger.

The Consistency

I feel strange putting this here, because its generally not something I really consider good or bad with a product but I love the consistency of this mask. I have tried many masks for my seriously dry and damaged hair, and I find that the thicker the mask the better. This is a really thick mask, and it just feels like it would do good before you even put it on.

The Effect

I left this on for about 15-20 minutes, and just washed it out like any other conditioner. After, before my hair had even dried, I could tell this had done my hair some good. It felt soft and smooth, and it pretty much stayed that way until the next time I washed it. My hair dried with less frizz and messiness than normal, without the use of leave in conditioners or anything like that.

There are a few downsides, as with any products. Here’s what I found not so good:

The Size

I’m not entirely sure if you can buy this product in a tube, but the sachet I got was just not big enough. I should say that I have really long, and extremely thick hair, but the sachet only covered about half of my hair. Luckily I applied it from the ends up so the most damaged part of my hair got the goodness of it, but I think I would choose something bigger like a larger sachet or a bottle of conditioner (even for one use) to ensure it went all over my hair.

The Washing Out Time

It seemed to take forever to wash this out of my hair. It seems strange to write that because I never really count how long it takes to wash something out of my hair, but it just felt like this stuck in my hair longer than anything else normally does.

PS Sorry there are no pictures, my computer will not let me put them in!

Revlon Top Speed Nail Polish | Electric

The Bottle

I recently picked up this polish in my local Boots, in hope that it would help me end my search for a bright yellow polish (that is good). It didn’t.

I’ve never tried Revlon polishes myself, but I’ve heard great things about them. I thought considering the great reviews and everything, I would snap this up without looking at swatches online but that was a mistake.

The formula is really watery. This polish streaks so bad. It’s not opaque at all and it’s just not great overall. I’m not a fan of the brush, which is really skinny and I just overall regret buying it. If you have the patients for putting on about 4 or 5 coats, it could work for you but I just don’t have that kind of patients or time.

The brush

I’m really gutted that it didn’t work out because I want that perfect bright yellow polish and this looked perfect.

Top 10 Youtubers

Whilst writing this post, I fear it may be a little redundant. I’m a small blog, and I know this, so me sharing so of my favourite youtubers may be a little silly because they are all huge and I’m sure you all know them. So, the only reason this post if going live is because I’m going to view it as a favourites, rather than recommendation like it started out as! It was meant to be eight, but I couldn’t narrow it down! So, here is my top 10 youtubers!

They aren’t all beauty/fashion people, but without a further or do let’s commence!

Fleur De Force

Fleur was one of the first youtubers I ever watched, and is probably one of the most popular British beauty youtuber. She makes great videos, and vlogs amazingly too. She’s just started a new channel since becoming engaged! I’ve left all her links below and if you don’t watch her I highly suggest you do!

Joey Graceffa

I love Joey! If I ever have a bad day, and just want to watch some great videos about everyday things I always find myself on his channel. He vlogs every single day, and always manages to keep it fresh and interesting. I would highly recommend this guy to anyone who wants some great videos to watch.

Super Beauty Nerd

This channel isn’t as big as it should be. Super Beauty Nerd has a great following, and she makes brilliant videos. The videos are a little sporadic but they are great quality, and they aren’t insanely long like some can be. Defiantly a channel worth checking out!

Hey Brittney

I must admit that this channel was a late find of mine, but I’m now a loyal follower. For some reason, Brittney reminds me of my friend Amy and that makes me love the channel that much more. She makes great videos, and now runs WinterSpringPro alone (Sad face).

Indie Queen Maz

This is a great channel. It had great videos that are uploaded in good time. They are real and honest and just all round I love watching this girls videos. It is a beauty/fashion based channel, so for honest opinions of all that good stuff check her out.

Luke Conard

I found this channel through MissGlamorazzi. I’m sure if you watch her, you know who this guy is. Luke is a musician that makes great music based around things like Harry Potter and the Hunger Games, but also does amazing original music and good covers. He vlogs A LOT to so you should check out his vlog and main channels if you haven’t already.

Dolly Bow Bow

I’m sure Dolly Bow Bow needs no introduction. I love everything about this channel. It has a great combination of videos (beauty and fashion) and I couldn’t recommend her enough. She also has a blog and a great online store that I would recommend as well.

Essie Button

This is a new discovery and I have no idea how I didn’t find this any sooner. I don’t even know what to day, but her channel and blog are AMAZING!

Zoella

This is a great beauty channel. It has a great combination of videos from favourites to tutorials. Also, if you have watched this channel you’ll know that Zoe is great friends with Sprinkle of Glitter (aka Louise). The videos that these two do together have me in the biggest fits of laughter!

Sprinkle of Glitter

This channel is great for those looking for a bit of everything. Whilst it is mainly focused on beauty, there are great videos like “Being happy” thrown in there to make you really want to smile. As I said before, the videos that she makes with Zoe are videos I’ll go to when I just need a good old laugh. They are brilliant together, and clearly brilliant friends.

Topshop Lipstick | Rio Rio

Hey guys, Today I’ve got a little review for you. I recently picked up a topshop lipstick in Rio Rio and LOVE it, and just wanted to share with you why. Topshop makeup seems to be all over the place at the moment, and I can see why. It’s such great stuff that I’m not surprised people are raving about it. I have tried a number of things from the range, and second only to the cream blushes these lipsticks are my favorite from the range.

The Colour

I have 3 shades but this is my favourite. Rio Rio is a gorgeous bright red colour that I think is the perfect summer red.

The Packaging

I love the packaging as well. It feels really nice, and more expensive than it is and the casing is metal rather than the cheaper feeling plastic.

Swatched

It’s really pigmented which I love, and unlike many reds I’ve tried it’s not to drying. It does dry my lips out a little but it stays put so well that I just pop some balm over the top when I feel I need to.

Overall this is a brilliant lipstick, that I’m glad I’ve added to my collection.

Have you tried this? Do you like topshop makeup?

Fashion Focus | Pencil Skirts

Pencil Skrits were quite the rage on AW12 catwalks. The Femme Fatale look showed in Marie Claire highlighted it to me, and I just thought that as a nod to those catwalks, but still wearing styles of clothes you have now! These skirts can be dressed up and down, and look great on almost everyone. Check below to see how i’d style them!

Fashion Focus | Skinny Jeans

I love skinny jeans! They dominate my jean wardrobe, whether they are classic blue jeans or coloured! I love them, and I think you can dress them up and down. I used to look over my skinnies when getting ready for a night out with the girls but with a pair of killer heels and a nice top they are now at the forfront of my mind when I’m dressing. Whilst playing around on polyvore, I created this little bad boy. I love the clutch and heels, and the blouse/top would look great under a blazer or dressed down with a jean jacket.
